    Abstract

The specific volume of sea water has been measured for salinities between 0%0 and 40%0, for temperatures in the range 0°-40°C, and for pressures up to 14,000 lb/in2. The methods used and the experimental points obtained are given. An equation of state is derived to represent the data for computational purposes. The data is compared with other published data to show general agreement over the range of variables considered.
