Spectral-domain observations of direct modulation of lightwaves in optical fibers

Abstract

He-Ne laser lightwaves in an optical fiber are directly modulated by applying audio frequency-modulating electric fields at the input end. Temporal drift of the detected output signal in the spectral domain and its dependency on detector location are presented.
