Abstract
An ultra-wideband (UWB) random noise radar system was extensively tested over the last few years for target detection, Doppler estimation, synthetic aperture radar and inverse synthetic aperture radar (SAR/ISAR) imaging purposes. As a result of such tests, it was found that the experimental results obtained pertaining to multipath-induced interference were in good agreement with those obtained from simulations based on analytical formulations. The UWB waveform provides a tremendous advantage in mitigating the effects of multipath interference, and will be suitable to detect low flying targets.
