Abstract

This talk provides an overview of how quantum materials such as topological insulators and topological semimetals might serve as attractive platforms for spintronics devices that rely on spin-momentum correlation. We will discuss experimental studies of spin-charge interconversion in heterostructures that combine topological insulators (such as Bi2Se3) and topological semimetals (such as Cd3As2) with metallic and insulating ferromagnets, highlighting the opportunities and challenges for exploiting these materials in spin-orbit torque devices.
