Abstract

The depolarized component of light spontaneously scattered from eigth organic liquids was studied and the results of the study were compared with the results of the corresponding stimulated studies. The light source was a multi-mode He-Ne laser and the intensity distribution analyzer was a large plane grating used in a Czerny-Turner configuration. Photo electric detection was used throughout. The results of the investigation indicate that, due to the threshold nature of the stimulated scattering phenomena, in some instances the use of stimulated rather than spontaneous techniques could lead to less ambiguity in the raw data and thus to more accurate analysis.
