Abstract

Alfalfa was chemically conditioned with a potassium carbonate treatment using different application rates and nozzle types. Alfalfa drying rate was significantly increased as the carrier application rate was increased. Flat-fan, hollow-cone and solid-cone nozzles all provided similar coverage and drying results. Line pressure at the nozzle also did not affect the drying performance.
