Stable circularly-polarized emission from vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers

Abstract

A vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) comprising a polarization-selective chiral reflector was designed, fabricated, and tested. Stable, single-mode, circularly-polarized (CP) lasing oscillation was achieved, for the first time, in a VCSEL cavity.
