Abstract
In this paper, an experiment is proposed to interface the Motorola MC68HC11 microcontroller to the Allegro UCN5804B stepper-motor driver to control the speed, direction, and drive format of a four phase stepper motor. The advantages of using this driver over the conventional methods for stepper motor control will also be discussed. Finally, the reader will be introduced to advanced features of the MC68HC11 such as interrupts and output timer compares.
