Abstract

A stereoselective route to the fully assembled and optically pure tetracyclic ring system of ingenol which features a macrocyclic Claisen rearrangement for the construction of the strained in,out-bridged bicyclic substructure and simultaneous, strategic placement of functionality has been developed.
