Abstract
Industrial leaders in the US have developed a project to find ways to overcome the glass's fragility and to suggest how this stronger material can be used in various applications. Instead of a decorative and visual material, glass could be used as a structural, load-bearing material material enabling more imaginative designs. It is suggested that the combination of chemical stability, optical properties and thermal insulation provides a range of design possibilities of microscopes, cameras, and other architectural materials. To further emphasizing the importance of the glass, the Glass Manufacturing Industry Council (GMIC) held a contest among university graduate and undergraduate students for suggesting the applications of the material.
