STUDY OF EMERGENCY ORDER PROCESS STARTING TIME IN A SINGLE-STAGE MULTI-PRODUCT PRODUCTION SYSTEM.

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The processing of emergency order 'E' in a pre-planned loading schedule will affect the existing schedule of the other products. This causes the production system to incur certain costs. The production system considered for discussion assumes a certain specific configuration, manufacturing multiple products. The costs resulting from the interference of the order 'E' depend upon the consideration time/process starting time of 'E' in the existing routine manufacturing schedule. An attempt is made to develop a mathematical model for optimizing the order 'E' process strating/consideration time using queueing theory application. The basic criterion to optimize the emergency order is the minimization of total variable cost. Relevant issues pertain to modelling the problem are discussed in detail.
