Abstract
Successful prevention takes a concerted effort of everyone in the social organization to make a difference in the complex, interpersonal relationship dynamics of bullying. Schools on a global scale are seeking ways to deal with this type of interpersonal violence and recent research findings indicate the most effective framework for addressing bullying in schools is through a comprehensive, sustainable approach versus a stand-alone, short-term model. At its core, successful bullying prevention programming must include a teamwork approach. We present the important central program concepts underlying successful programs and outline a sequence of developmental stages that allow for broad involvement and ownership of prevention efforts.
