Abstract
Succession planning is about ensuring the continuity of people in organizational settings. Establishing and sustaining a coaching culture is critical. Coaching serves two purposes in succession planning. First, it helps prepare people for more responsibility. Second, it can help people after a promotion to ensure that they are prepared for the challenges they face. This chapter focuses on key components of succession planning and the role they play in building a coaching culture.
