Sudden Cardiac Arrest and AEDs

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a serious and potentially devastating diagnosis that school providers should properly screen for with a thorough personal and family history, physical exam, and electrocardiogram (ECG) when possible. School providers should be trained in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and have a clear and well-rehearsed emergency action plan in place to use them when necessary.
