Abstract

Nickel based adsorbents show great promise in the role of sulfur removal for transportation fuels. One nickel based adsorbent was tested on four types of commercially available transportation fuels. The tested adsorbent showed great promise in the sulfur removal of jet fuel, even below 1 ppmw. Also, the selective adsorption of sulfur in diesel below 30 ppmw with this nickel based adsorbent yields a high capacity. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 230th ACS National Meeting (Washington, DC 8/28/2005-9/1/2005).
