Abstract
The effect of Mo concentration on the superconducting properties and structure of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2(Cu3-x Mox)Oy with 0.05≤x≤0.3 were investigated by resistance and AC susceptibility measurements as well as by X-ray diffraction experiments. It is found that the volume fraction of the high-Tc phase (Tc > 100 K) determined by AC susceptibilities and the X-ray powder diffraction pattern increases with an increase of Mo concentration and that this substitution depresses the Tc of this system slightly. Our results also indicate that the nonmagnetic impurity also lowers the optimum firing temperature to produce the high-Tc phase.
