Abstract
We have measured the superfluid density and the heat capacity of 4He confined in porous gold in order to study the effect of quenched disorder on the superfluid transition. The superfluid density exponent is found to be identical to that of bulk 4He within experimental resolution. The heat capacity shows a sharp peak at the transition temperature. The size of the peak appears to be larger than that predicted by critical phenomena theory.
