Abstract

The surface reconstruction and induced anisotropy in (001) Ni films were investigated. Upon annealing, it was observed that the surface exhibited stripe reconstruction associated with strain relief mechanisms. The results showed that the non-annealed films exhibited four-fold symmetry from the symmetry of the crystals.
