Abstract
Shoulder stiffness can be a difficult problem. Etiology and treatment are controversial. Goals of treatment are to decrease pain, increase motion, and improve function. First line of treatment includes physical therapy. When this fails, operative treatment with either manipulation under anesthesia alone or in combination with arthroscopic capsular release are reasonable options and appear to produce satisfactory results in most cases.
