Abstract

Swift observations of GRB050712 show that the X-ray lightcurve of this burst exhibits flaring activity in the first 500s. We find that the initial flares can be due to "inner engine" activity, where the later flare may be explained in terms of the interaction of the ejecta with the surrounding medium. An optical counterpart was detected in the U and V band of UVOT up to 15000s after the trigger.
