Abstract
Control experiments and modifications were carried out to investigate whether the phosphine oxide moiety could improve adhesion. Control and modified network systems were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and single lap shear adhesion experiments. Results indicate that a toughening agent is needed for the epoxy to increase the lap shear strength.
