Synthesis and thermal expansion of NaGe2P3O12

Abstract

NaGe2P3O12 which belongs to [NZP]-a family of low thermal expansion materials, was synthesized by solid state reaction method. An attempt was made to produce glass-ceramic of NaGe2P3O12 because of its low melting behavior. Bulk thermal expansions of sintered and glass samples of NaGe2P3O12 were measured and found quite high. A glass-ceramic with single crystalline phase of NaGe2P3O12 could not be produced.
