T1 - Synthesis of a new series of 1222 Pb-based cuprates, (Pb,Cd)(Sr,R)2(R′,Ce)2Cu2Oz (R, R′ = rare-earth elements)

N2 - (Pb,Cd)-1222 compounds with nominal compositions of (Pb0.5Cd0.5) (Sr0.9R0.1)2(R′0.7Ce0.3) 2Cu2Oz, (R, R′ = rare-earth elements) are synthesized and characterized. Single or nearly single-phase samples are successfully obtained for the compounds with R = R′ = Y, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, and Ho, and for those with a pair of rare-earth elements, (R, R′) = (La, Eu), (Sm, Gd), (Sm, Eu), (La, Gd), (Eu, Gd), (Nd, Eu), (Nd, Dy), (Nd, Y), (Nd, Er). X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction results show that the structure is isostructural to (Pb, Cu)(Sr, R)2(R′, Ce)2Cu2Oz (R, R′ = rare-earth elements).
