Abstract

A structured approach is presented to synthesize an equivalent lumped circuit of embedded passive components. For any 1-port structure of interest, a transfer function of the input impedance or admittance is obtained in a polynomial representation from a minimum number of simulated or measured data points given in impedance, admittance, or scattering parameter. The equivalent lumped circuit is then synthesized from the transfer function. The results show that the response of the equivalent circuits accurately represents the behavior of the embedded passives analyzed.
