Abstract

There is little research available regarding the use of athletic taping and bracing for the hip and pelvis. The disadvantages of using athletic tape are the expense, the difficulty of application, and possible skin irritation. Tape's effectiveness at decreasing joint motion lessens after 30 min. Further research is needed to determine if compression shorts are able to prevent injury or enhance athletic performance.
