Abstract

The temperature dependence of the energy gap of MgxZn yCd1-x-ySe (x ∼ 0.5) and Zn0.5Cd 0.5Se alloys was determined from reflectivity measurements at temperatures between 4.2 and 300 K. The data were fitted to a Bose-Einstein type relationship and temperature dependence of band gaps was compared. A similar temperature dependence of band gap was observed indicating that quantum confinement in the MgxZnyCd1-x-ySe/Zn 0.5Cd0.5Se quantum wells did not depend on temperature.
