Abstract

A group of CIOs dispute the view that 'spend less, do not lead, manage risk' is becoming the new IT mantra. It this becomes a mantra, a period of IT malaise will ensue with CIOs going 'underground' in the corporation. There will be less fuel, less spark - less chance for an idea to combust into a growth-driving innovation that drives the companies and economies. It is believed that it is up to the CIO to remain in the foreground of corporate relevance.
