Abstract
The author analyzes the demand for Serials Catalogers as it is reflected in job advertisements during a 15 year period. Evaluating changes in position descriptions from 1980 to 1995, the author suggests that the role of the Serials Cataloger has broadened in scope with developments in automation and in national standards. Expectations for candidates over the years have increased as a result.
