N2 - The influence which the founding of periodicals devoted to public and private international law has had upon the development of the discipline as a whole and upon the shaping of doctrinal views and schools of thought, to the best of the present writer’s knowledge, has yet to be the object of scholarly evaluation. The appearance, and occasionally the passing, of individual titles has been noted from time to time, and the explosion of student-edited journals attached to sundry law school international law societies of various appellations in the United States been commented upon, but the phenomenon as a whole deserves, and doubtless in due course will receive, consideration as a transnational one. The present essay undertakes to explore virtually unknown (both as events and as extant cupies) episodes in the development of inter- national legal periodicals in pre- and postrevolutionary Russia.
