Abstract
The dielectric properties of yttria-stabilized cubic zirconia were measured over a wide range of frequency (100 to 1 × 1010Hz) and temperature (25 to 200°C). The dielectric constant and loss increased with temperature owing to the presence of mobile oxygen vacancies. At high frequencies, a decrease in the dielectric constant and a corresponding increase in the dielectric loss were observed. Comparisons were made with other materials that have point defects. The effects of different yttria additions on the microwave dielectric loss were also studied.
