Abstract

The effect of UV light on the adsorption of methylene blue was analyzed. It was found that after 10h dye removal cycle 1, 80% of the MB was removed, and after 10h during cycle 2, 70% of the dye was was removed. Data was also demonstrated and extrapolated to hypothesized that activated carbon could have different capacities for the irradiated molecules. Varying affinity was attributed to electron withdrawing oxygen functional groups, where adsorption onto an acidic carbon is deterred.
