Abstract

The glyoxal clock can be utilized by students to study the kinetics of a clock reaction in general chemistry. The order of the reactants provided good results as the glyoxal is found in the first order while the zero order is found in hydrogen sulfite. This clock reaction can also be used in physical chemistry to provide a more detailed study on the order of hydrogen sulfite and its rate constants.
