N2 - This research investigates the effects of information importance and distribution on its exchange in a synchronous distributed team environment. Data are being collected in laboratory studies where subjects interact through a computer-mediated decision support system. This paper presents the major research hypotheses, a theoretical framework for the study, describes the methodology, and presents preliminary results for two of the hypotheses. This research aims to make a significant contribution to understanding information exchange in teams.
