Abstract

Upper critical magnetic fields of the Bi1.9-xPbxSb0.1Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy system with x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 were measured by a magnetoresistance method with a pulsed magnetic field. The Hc2(0) are estimated to be 181, 370, 416 and 195 T for x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 respectively. The variation of Tc with x is comparatively small. The X-ray diffraction shows that there is no obvious change in structure. It suggests that the BiO plane in the system influences the superconductivity strongly.
