Abstract

New therapies and the results of clinical trials have dramatically altered the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Recent advances have improved our understanding of rate-control strategies, conversion modalities, the maintenance of sinus rhythm, nonpharmacological prevention, and antiembolic measures. The authors who have contributed to this state-of-the-art update on atrial fibrillation have helped us to offer our readers a contemporary overview of this common disease.
