Abstract

Four groups of hybrid 45 mm bore angular contact ball bearings having VIMVAR M50 steel rings and silicon nitride ceramic balls were endurance tested at four thrust loads ranging from 4.45 kN (1000lb) to 9.56 kN (2150lb). The experimental L SUB 1 SUB 0 life was found to vary as a power function of load but with a higher exponent than is generally attributed to all steel bearings. (A)
