N2 - Taking a sociohistorical perspective, this chapter analyses the language practices of taxi inscriptions in Ghana during the mid-twentieth century. Through the lens of Integrationism, the chapter explores whether recent scholarship in sociolinguistics has advanced African linguistic scholarship beyond existing ideologies of named, countable African languages.
