Abstract
Modern contraception with synthetic steroid preparations has achieved considerable success in the past decade as an effective means of birth control. However, their use has been shown, in some women, to incur certain risks and side effects, particularly with long-term use. Thus, research in fertility control continues in an attempt to elucidate the positive and negative aspects of contraception. In recent years, another dimension of fertility control has been added with the development of the post-coital contraception concept commonly referred to as the “morning-after pill.” This mode of fertility control has received considerable attention as a possible “perfect” contraceptive since.
