Abstract
It is not a new phenomenon, for followers to call upon their leaders to be more responsible in their actions and behaviors. And of course, those leaders respond with public assurances of their integrity, fealty and honesty all the while knowing that their intention for actions are far different than their espoused truths. It is this last bit that is at the kernel of the Nigerian leadership crisis. In this chapter, we provide a brief historical account of Nigeria, illuminate some of our personal experience of living in Nigeria and present some cold, hard facts about a country that is on the verge of collapse. We offer the simple prescription that shared leadership offers hope for Nigeria, in spite of the potential disaster that is looming large on the horizon.
