Abstract

The problem of pullout of a long high-modulus rectilinear bar (fiber) embedded in an elastic half-space (matrix) is considered before and while local debonding occurs. An approximate analytical solution to the problem is presented. The problem is then analyzed numerically by means of the finite element method. The results obtained by both approaches, analytical and numerical, are compared. The discrepancy usually appears very small.
