Abstract

Metal oxide surface protonation under hydrothermal conditions is summarized. Important concepts and definitions are introduced first, followed by a brief overview of experimental methods and presentation of representative results. Finally, the modeling methods that are most useful in predicting surface protonation behavior between 0 and 300°C are presented and compared.
