Abstract

The new generation of MBS, MBS-2 and MBS-3, have been developed for CO 2 capture and separation, which increase the adsorption capacity to 140 mg-CO2/g-S at a CO2 partial pressure of 15 kPa and 180 mg-CO2/g-S at a CO2 partial pressure of 100 kPa, about 50 % higher than that of our first generation of MBS (MBS-1). The new generation of MBS, MBS-3, used Cabosil M-5 as an alternative matrix for preparation of MBS, which significantly reduces the cost for preparation of MBS. Another type of MBS (physical sorbent), MBS-4, has also developed for removing SOX and NOX from flue gas. On the basis of the new generation of MBS developed in this study, a tow-step process for CO2 capture from flue gas is proposed.
