Abstract

We discuss possible experiments which allow determination of the valence and strange-sea quark spin distributions in the nucleon through measurement of various asymmetries in semi-inclusive polarised deep-inelastic muon-proton (deuteron) scattering μ+p(d)→μ+π+-)+X. We estimate the order of magnitude of these effects using various phenomenological models of the quark structure functions in the nucleon.
