Abstract
A theoretical study of mechanisms responsible for emission of highly excited metal atoms was conducted. Molecular dynamics was used to demonstrate the formation of holes in the d-shell. The formation of d-holes was a result of electron promotion in the energetic collisions in the cascade developed in solid under fast ion bombardment.
