Abstract
Possible fuel savings and cost benefits were predicted for the use of thermal insulation and solar heat in a commercial-sized glass greenhouse at eight locations across the United States. The computer simulated results indicated that combinations of insulation and solar heat could reduce conventional heat requirements as much as 90% at all locations while cost benefits varied widely from a 38% decrease to a 21% increase in heating costs.
