Considering the immediate vicinity of an onset temperature, TA where system dynamics just begin to experience caging effects, the thermodynamics of supercooled liquids was examined. It was noticed on analyzing the simulation data from polymer model and from small molecule mixtures that the configurational entropy becomes strongly temperature dependent below TA. The thermodynamic connection to the localized dynamics of glass-forming liquids was established because the diffusion coefficient followed the Adam-Gibbs relationship.
