Abstract
Two and three-dimensional measurements of velocity were obtained in an asymmetric turbulent corner flow. Velocity profiles were measured at four axial locations downstream of the leading edge of the horizontal plate and on each wall, at the four cross-stream locations of 6.4, 19.1, 57.2 and 101.6 mm from the 90°corner. The Reynolds number based on momentum thickness ranged from 630 to 2120. Ten thousand coincident velocity ensembles were collected at each measurement location using a three component LDV system in the side-scatter mode. Three component velocity data was collected at wall normal locations for y+>10. Due to noise in the third component, two component data was collected for y+ ≤ 10. Mean velocities, Reynolds stresses and triple correlations were computed. Baseline results at 101.6 mm on each wall compared favorably with classical flat plate data. Secondary flow structures associated with flow along the corner produced modification to the measured Reynolds stresses and triple correlations.
