Abstract
The study included 106 patients undergoing elective hip procedures performed by the same surgeon. Most of the subjects were between 24 and 75 yr old; 3 were more than 75 yr old. 56 patients did not receive prophylactic medication. The incidence of venous thrombosis in this group was 53.6%. Five of these patients developed pulmonary emboli.
