Abstract

Since physics isoften a service course for college students, it is important to incorporate everydayexamples in the curriculum that inspire students of diverse backgrounds and interests. Inthis regard, baseball has been a workhorse for the physics classroom for a longtime, taking the form of demonstrations and example problems. Here, we discuss howbaseball canhelp bridge the physical and social sciences in an introductory physics course by analyzing aclose play at first base.
