Abstract

Poor design and excessive use of hand tools are associated with increased incidence of both acute and subacute cumulative trauma of the hand, wrist, and forearm [6, 7]. Acute trauma includes burns, cuts, lacerations, abrasions, fractures, strains, sprains, dislocations, and even amputations caused by the upper extremity being caught, cut, or burned by the tool.
